Programming for the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community
LivingWorks safeTALK
LivingWorks safeTALK is a four-hour training that equips people to be more alert to someone thinking of suicide and better able to connect them to supports within their community with further help . You will learn how to reach out to someone thinking about suicide and help them keep safe by promptly connecting them to further help.
Your role as a connector is the main focus of this training, which features:
Trainer presentations, facilitated discussion, and skills practice;
Videos that illustrate what happens when signs of suicide are overlooked, and how you can contribute to safe outcomes; when these signs are heard and addressed; and
A community resource person on hand at the workshop to support your safety and comfort.
2SLGBTQIA+ groups and organizations interested in hosting a LivingWorks safeTALK workshop delivered by facilitators from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community can contact elizabeth@healthyminds.ca for details.
Circle of Support
Circle of Support is a learning and resource-sharing community for 2SLGBTQIA+ Nova Scotians and their educated allies who care about suicide prevention within queer, trans, and 2Spirit communities and are interested in supporting community members through experiences of suicidal thoughts and actions.
It offers a monthly meeting/learning opportunity (usually online) and a brief e-newsletter for sharing resources and information.
The content shared within the Circle of Support network will be varied, including both direct and indirect resources pertaining to suicide prevention, training courses, toolkits, guides, and peer connection.
If you are interested in being a member of the Circle of Support, please complete this brief survey to confirm your interest in further communications.
